Home Improvement, Organization Ideas: 4 Useful Household Tips

February 14, 2017 by admin Leave a Comment

Home Improvement, Organization Ideas 4 Useful Household Tips

1) How to prevent oil sprinkles in the kitchen?

Sometimes while cooking, oil sprinkles pop out of the cooking pan and burn the skin. This happens due to the utensils being recently washed due to which they still contain water particles on them. The better option is always prevention, so wipe the utensil dry before pouring oil into it. But just in case you have then what should be done? In such a situation a pinch of salt should be added into the hot oil, after which no oil sprinkles pop out.

2) How to make the vegetable or sauce gravy thick?

If the gravy in your vegetable seems too thin then these tips can be of great help.

  • Sometimes you add more water than required and there is a chance of the gravy losing taste so in that case some gram flour can be added into it.
  • In case gram flour is not available boiled potatoes can be mashed and be added to it.
  • Also if there is a hint of some extra salt, bread can be dipped into the gravy and out, it soaks the extra salt.

3) How to check whether eggs are fresh or stale?

Most of us are fond of eggs.  We consume the eggs in one or the other forms, may be boiled, or taken as a spicy dish. The source may vary, you may either buy to prepare at your home or go to restaurants. But very few of us would be aware of the facts that eggs also get stale and may be rotten too.

Normally we all are not able to recognize whether the eggs (raw and uncooked) supplied to us are fresh or not. But here is a simple way by which you can know about the freshness. What you have to do is just take a beaker full of water. Put the eggs into it and wait for it to settle down. If eggs remains on the top and float on the water, it indicates that they are not fresh. At the same time if they settle down in the beaker they are fresh.

The scientific reason behind this is that as eggs age, gases build up inside the shell making it more buoyant, which makes it to float on water.

So now, check before you eat!!

4) Green vegetables are mini packets of vitamins and minerals

Green vegetables are available all over the world and we all are habituated of consuming it but are you aware of the benefits of green vegetables, the various nutritious value components carried by them.  Even some of them are potential of curing diseases too.

Green vegetables which we all consume should be fresh stored and stale vegetables loses its nutritional values. So beware, that it may happen that despite of consuming green vegetables you may lack essential minerals and vitamins. Fresh green vegetables are actually small packets enriched with calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, zinc, vitamins A, C, E, and K, and they help in strengthening the blood and respiratory components, as they provide essential factors which are required for proper functioning of their individual units. They also provide a variety of phytonutrients including beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin, which protect our cells from damage and our eyes from age-related problems, among many other effects. Dark green leaves even contain small amounts of Omega-3 fats.

Be adventurous and one may look for green vegetables and branch out beyond bright and dark green lettuce, mustard greens, broccoli, Chinese cabbage are juzt a few of the options.

Tips on buying stationery and prevent smudging drawing sheets

Tips on buying stationery and prevent smudging drawing sheets

Think before buying your stationery

Students, artists , professionals and stationery lovers would like to pay attention to this. Students from architecture and design field spend more on stationery than anything else during their course. So before buying them you can check some minor details which will help you choose better.

Graphite lead pencils should be checked by looking at them from vertically upwards. The placement of the lead should be in the center. This prevents the pencil lead from breaking off easily while writing. Another very important aspect of a lead pencil is that it should be made up of uniform colored and textured wood. The same can be observed by looking at its base.

Rulers are another integral part of the lot. The edges of the ruler should be smooth. The plastic ruler should be used for construction and its calibrations could be checked of being at uniform intervals.

Clutch pencils are generally not used for drawing because line-weight cannot be emphasized using it. They are preferred for markings.

A paper cutter would be a better bargain instead of a sharpener as it helps prevent unnecessary loss of the pencil wood.  In case of using a paper cutter, the tip can be sharpened without losing too much wooden part.

How to prevent smudging your drawing sheets?

  • Often while drawing the sheets are smudged and are definitely not presentable that way. There are certain precautions which can be helpful   ; while sketching a sheet of paper should be kept beneath the working hand. This keeps the working area clean. Another technique can be of use. While using a plastic ruler a cello tape strip can be pasted on the rear side of the ruler. This prevents smudging while dragging it.
  • Little things do affect the neatness of your sheets. The rough side of the sheet should be used and brittle pencils should be avoided. While writing with the pencil you should keep rotating it so that the tip remains sharp for long, and thickness of lines are even; hence avoiding use of erasers.
  • Avoid eating and drawing simultaneously
  • Keep your pencils separately, not with other instruments.
  • Clean instruments before starting to work with them.
  • Use non dust erasers.

How to create successful businesses out of hobbies?

How to create successful businesses out of hobbies

Having a hobby not only helps spend time constructively but also be creative and innovative. Those who do not have any hobby cannot live their life fully. One just needs to take out sometime during the day. One can either take up painting, singing, dancing, writing or anything as a hobby. Working and non – working both can have some hobby.

Whilst working people can relax and become creative with a hobby; no – working people can spend the leisure time in some worthwhile task or activity. Not just that non – working people can even make a business out of their hobby. For instance, those who have painting as a hobby, can over a period of time hold a painting of art pieces and make known to the world the hidden talent. One can also earn a worthwhile amount out of such a hobby. The same holds true for other hobbies.

Many a times, what starts as a hobby grows to an extent that it can turn out into a business. Writing is another example. A writer can compile the literary pieces and publish a book. There have been many instances in the past wherein, people have made a successful business out of their hobbies!

Avoid too much reporting in your small business

I asked one of my friend few years back, “what have you been doing, you look tired”. He said, “It’s my #!s$#*@ boss, he keeps telling me to make reports. I am sick and tired of it. There’s no further developments but he says I need the reports on Every Monday and Friday and all.” The problem here is not the boss but the reports. But, that’s how people react when they do stuffs which are of little or no use. There are two possible solutions for this. One is to make sure that reporting is done once in a month or in fifteen days or the boss should have explained why these reports are needed? I have always been against with too much reporting from the beginning. Reports are necessary but if you dedicate your time in things which are already present then, when will you create something new. Planning is necessary but I have seen some people, they keep planning and end up doing nothing. You need to have proper balance with plans and their execution.

How to learn things?

Some great men have said that if you repeat a certain action for 21 days it becomes a habit. Well that requires a lot of patience .Some tried out tips are mentioned below:-

  • Mnemonics are your best friends, if they are not try befriending them. Mnemonics are certain riddles or funny connotations that you attach with your word or a set of information. For

e.g. to recall the 8 parts of speech you can device your own mnemonic like PAPA VINC for (verb, preposition, conjunction, noun, pronoun, preposition, adverb and adjective)

  • Or we can connect it with a funny incident or a sentence like Mom Very Eagerly Made Jam Sandwiches and Uniform Nine Pizzas. Which helps you remember the name of the nine planets in sequence.
  •  It might appear childish but the brain needs to be tricked into remembering information. Certain gamed can also be made out for learning for e.g. to make your child remember how many days are there in each month you can teach him the hand game. When you fold your fist and turn back you see rises and depressions. Each rise accounts for 31 days and each depression for 30 except February.
  • Brain can be trained to do anything but what it requires is repetition, so the old maxim stays practice does make you perfect. Writing also helps sometimes in exams you remember the page where you had written that something down which helps you recall an answer.
  • This tip is a bit hard but try it out if you can. While going to bed if you recall something and there is some part which you cannot remember do get up from the bed and look for it. Believe me you would never forget something which made you take all the pain.
  • There is a famous saying that says if you want to remember your wife’s birthday all you have to do is forget it once. Recalling dates is something that we all have hard time doing. We all do remember our national holidays we can try relating it with the anniversaries that we keep forgetting, for e.g. you can associate your wedding anniversary with the independence day like how many days after it does the day comes when you lost your independence. You will have to give it a thought or else you can just set a reminder on your phone.

Causes and Symptoms of Hepatitis, Hormonal imbalance, Malaria

World Hepatitis Day: July 28th

July 28 is celebrated as world hepatitis day. Millions of people across the world are suffering from this disease and is counted as one of the most deadly disease.

It is caused by a virus called hepatitis virus. In this disease the inflammation of liver takes place. The liver also contains inflammatory cells. There are many types of hepatitis found all over the world, which includes hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C. Hepatitis B and hepatitis C are more common and causes death. According to a recent survey, about 3% of the whole world population is affected by hepatitis B and about 1.5% of world population is affected by hepatitis C.

Drugs and other such products may also enhance the chance of hepatitis infection. It is also a widely spreading disease and can be transmitted by coming in blood contact with the infected person, by needles used by the patient, drug abuses, heamodialysis.

The proper treatment should be provided to the patient. Many vaccines are available in the market for hepatitis A and hepatitis B but treatment of hepatitis C is still a problem. Vaccines are provided to children right after their birth which proves to be major prevention.

Hormonal imbalance in women

Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common diseases found in women. This is the condition in which there is formation of multiple tiny cysts, which develop at the periphery of the ovary.

It occurs in women aging between 14 to 50 years of age. The exact cause of this disease is not known but according to doctors and researchers, two main causes may be the insulin insensitivity and the influence of excessive male hormone in female. It may be genetically affected. Beside all these reasons, lifestyle plays a major role in occurrence of this disease as due to our changing lifestyle we are not to proper attention to ourselves. Under these conditions, gain of weight, may be the cause of it.

It may result in infertility.

This hormonal imbalance can be cured by changing living habits. Losing weight also gives a positive sign for betterment. At most regular exercise along with a healthy diet will surely never lead you such a disease.

Our biggest enemies: Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are one of the major cause for various diseases all over the world as malaria, dengue. These diseases are really dreadful and may cause the patient to lose his/her life. But, if we are little alert and we pay attention, the growth and reproduction of mosquitoes can be avoided. For this, only few of the steps have to be followed.

You should not allow the accumulation of water. It is one of the biggest sources of mosquitoes as it is their primary home where they live and thrive. They lay their eggs only on the surface of stagnant water, so that larvae can develop. So, water accumulation should be avoided and even if it done it should be covered.

There are places where water is stored at large volume and can’t be always drawn out and cleaned. The best remedy to prevent growth at such places is just the addition of two spoonful petrol or kerosene for every 100 liter of water. The scientific reason behind this is that as the petrol/kerosene is lighter than water, they come over the surface of the water and spread over that. This covers the place for the growth of mosquitoes.

Besides, the surroundings must be kept clean to live healthy.

Root Canal, Tuberculosis (TB) and Beauty Treatment

Root Canal, Tuberculosis (TB) and Beauty Treatment

Cure for your teeth, in pain: Root Canal Treatment

Earlier tooth pain was considered one of the most painful processes and the worrying part was that it had no permanent treatment. What you can do was that either take painkiller medicines or just go to a dentist to remove the infected part (tooth). Now, things have changed. New techniques are emerging to give you a permanent and beneficial effect. One of them is Root Canal Treatment.

In this the affected tooth is first of all paralyzed with the help of injection. The by the use of good medical instruments pulp (a part of tooth), is cleaned. The detailed and inside view of the tooth can be examined by the help of an advanced digital x-ray machine. The cleaned part is then filled in with suitable material called “filling compound”. This protects the teeth from further infections.

This process can be applied on the teeth having long term cavities, or if due to accident the teeth had been broken, or having any such injury.

The best part is that it is not a painful process.

A new hope for Tuberculosis (TB) treatment

Here is good news for the people suffering from TB. More than 13.7 million people are suffering from this deadly disease in the world and about 1.8 million people die annually. Though problems are associated with the treatment of this disease, recently a new test had been developed and trailed by India, South Africa, Peru, Philippines, and Azerbaijan Uganda. The name of this test is “Expert MtB / RIF”. The bacteria responsible for tuberculosis is a slow growing bacteria and takes long time while it divides and can be tested positively in various tests being performed for its detection.

Normally the microscopy test performed for TB takes 3 days. Beside, culture test is also done which takes a period of about 3.5 months (106 days).  And above all the microscopic test is never 100% foolproof.  Only in 33% cases, the results are correct and positive, which gives a very bad impact. The patient suffers a lot.

The recent test developed, is basically performed by a machine of 17,000 US dollars and each test costs about 17 USD.  The biggest advantage of it is this, it takes only 90 minutes. It is very potent for detecting TB and MDR (multiple drug resistance).

Modern Quest for beauty treatment

India has been named among the top five countries in the world where surgeons have used knives for cosmetic surgeries.

In olden days only the youngsters, more specifically girls, were concerned about their beauty. But now, in this era, there is competition among teenagers to look “the most beautiful” and middle aged people have also joined them. The quest for perfect look has forced many people to take appointments from cosmetic surgeons, all over the world.

Women want to look prettier while men want to look smarter. This thirst of them can bring temporary beauty and fitness by yoga or gym but the permanent treatment lies within the surgery.

There is a great stress to look good and versatile, which makes people to go for beauty makeovers, such as artificial dimpled cheeks, permanent lip coloring and rectifying some more uneven features.

Indirectly means you can buy permanent beauty by the cash which your wallet allows!!
