The name of this test is “Expert MtB / RIF”. The bacteria responsible for tuberculosis is a slow growing bacteria and takes long time while it divides and can be tested positively in various tests being performed for its detection.

Normally the microscopy test performed for TB takes 3 days. Beside, culture test is also done which takes a period of about 3.5 months (106 days).  And above all the microscopic test is never 100% foolproof.  Only in 33% cases, the results are correct and positive, which gives a very bad impact. The patient suffers a lot.

The recent test developed, is basically performed by a machine of 17,000 US dollars and each test costs about 17 USD.  The biggest advantage of it is this, it takes only 90 minutes. It is very potent for detecting TB and MDR (multiple drug resistance).
